We have filmed this week at Hyde Park, we did a couple of scenes and would like to upload them but as we have left the cable of the camera in college we will not be able to upload until college is open again at the begging of January, we will also be trying to schedule another date within the week to film in our second Location with our other member Lauren.

Research and Planning - Group Meeting

We have had a group meeting over text to discuss filming times. Since me and Shema don't celebrate Christmas we will be filming on Wednesday as it will be quiet and not many people at the park.

Here is a prop that was made for the scene with Dr Hartman and his colleague, we tried to make it look as realistic as possible by putting an imagine of a stamp and a logo.

We cant film today as our main actor is not well and we needed her to be able to film today's scenes. So we are going to have another group meeting to discuss when we will be all available to film again.

Here is the weather for Friday the day we are planning to film, so far we can film because its going to be cloudy and partly rain. We are filming inside and outside so it should be okay to be filming overall.

Research and Planning - Colour For my magazine cover

Here is a magazine which uses the three colour rule, I think for my magazine I will be using the three colour rule. They have used Red, Black and white, I am also planning to use this colours possibly Might change through the process but I like the dark colour in the background and the red just suits the genre of a horror and the white is also bold and stands out, therefor I am planning to use these colours

Research and Planning - Filming Mock (Corridor/Meeting scene)

Here is the video that we have filmed and roughly put it together, we have got the scene of Dr Hartman and Spencer in the psychiatrist office, we have used a over the shoulder shot so we get to see Dr Hartman's head and also Spencer's face expressions. We have also filmed the scene of Dr Hartman and his colleague walking down the corridor and they find out what Illness she has.We tried to film using different shot types, we did a pan shot and a track also a close up shot from the back as they were walking away from the camera. The scene with Dr Hartman speaking to Spencer we plan to use through the trailer by cutting out certain parts and dissolving into other scenes. However the filming turned out to be shaky so we will be filming again using a tripod and also the camera didn't focus much.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't great today so we were not able to film. It was extremely windy and also rain, so we couldn't go to the location because it was risky.

Name: Shahida

The main person auditioning on this tape is Shahida for the role of Alex. We gave her a few lines and asked her to improvise so we can see how she portrays her characters role.Also adding Khadijah to the Auditioned really helped us to see how they would work together, overall we think this was a great audition.

Research and Planning - Risk Assessment (Hyde college/ Trailer/ Magazine)

Here is our risk assessment for Hyde college, as we plan to film here and also I plan to take shots here for my magazine. I think this is a safe place and also there are no risks apart from the noise which we I have put solutions for this. 

Research and Planning - Make up test shots

Here are the make up test shots, we will be going for a subtle and natural look, so we have got the eyes will just a little eyeliner to give the characters eyes depth as we will be having close ups of the face and expressions and also we will be having the lips with a hint of colour. Also in Horror films there is not much makeup on the characters as it suits the genre creating natural effects and also realism.

Today me and the group went out and filmed some auditions, We used a few people for the role of Angela  (the mother) and George ( mothers boyfriend). The people who auditioned are perfect for the role, however we will be having a group meeting soon to discuss who we will be selecting for the role of the characters George and Angela.

We think Khadijah will be perfect for the role of Spencer, as she is 17 years old and so is the character, she is exactly what are looking for.For the Audition we gave her a few lines and asked her to improvise, so she can visualize what the outcome of the character is like.However we all loved the audition and think it was a strong audition.

We have had another group meeting about the filming schedule this week, We will be filming on thursday at one of our locations, We will be going to Hyde park and doing some shots there because there are trees and also we will be shooting within college for the psychiatrist room.

Research and Planning - Sound research

Here is a Film that I recently went to see, I have seen this trailer many times and I have been researching trailers and the types of sounds they have, The trailer begins with non diegetic sound and also diegetic sound with dialogue from the main character, throughout the whole trailer there is always background sound, like ambient sound and also a score, building up to the end of the trailer, to when the titles come up, the use of this is to build up the tension for the audience to want to see more.

Research and Planning - Different types of sound

Sound is a very important thing, when making a trailer/film. It brings the whole thing together and also helps build the tension of the trailer and creates an effect on the audience. A few sounds that are almost always used in trailer and films are the following:

Score: Music/sound which is created especially for the film itself.

Dialogue: sound which is made through two or more characters talking with each other.

Voice over: This is something that is mainly used in horror trailer, and is something we might be using in our trailer also, this is giving information about the trailer without being present on the screen or telling us the story.

Here are some ideas that we have thought about for our distribution name, out off all the names I think we like Dark arts as it stands out more to all of us and relates more to the theme of our trailer.

Research and Planning - Actor Profile (Dr George Hartman)

Name: Steven Midgley 

We have casted Steven Midgley to pay Dr George Hartman. We did not hold any auditions for this part as he is not saying anything and he is the murderer and we don't want to reveal this in the trailer. We thought he is perfect for the role as he is rather old and his look describes our character and is stereotypical for the doctor.
