Audience Feedback

Here is feedback that we have recived from teenagers in our target audience from the ages of 17-18 who are females, they are discussing what they like and how it links to the genre of horror

My target audience is male and females between the ages of  15-19 , we have chosen them to be our target audience, as they are more likely to go the cinema and also be afraid of horror films. Here is an interview of Alex and her freinds, with their thoughts on my poster and magazine.

Research and planning: Sound Complete!

I have now completed the all I need to do now is give this to Shema to attach to the final edit.

Research and planning - Group Meeting

We Have had a Group meeting, we have decided that we would like to complete the Trailer by Thursday 27th March I just need to complete sound and look through it with the rest of the group to get their thoughts on it. 

Research and planning - Sound

This is me creating sound through garageband with the video embedded. I have used a mixture of software instruments and loops to get the desired effect. I just need to add more sounds and a heartbeat to be used to add more fear in silent moments.

I have just began creating sound with the latest edit of our trailer. I am hoping that the heartbeat sounds that people have been able to create through garageband are easy as I am going to do the same!

Research and Planning - (Sounds I Like)

I like the sound of this, I was thinking to create a few sounds that are used here to create a link with the audience. It is a sound which will fit in nicely with the scene when she is sat on the bed and the villain comes behind her in the mirror.

Here is a heartbeat sound, which I like I would like to re- create a sound like this for my Trailer, for when the protagonist is running and panting and is scared of the villain coming for her. 

Research and Planning - Editing sound

Here I have added Master track, I was playing around with this to fade the sound out on one of the tracks, so it would create an effect on the audience. However Shema and myself didn't like the outcome of sound therefore I got rid of the master track fade, because it lowered the sound of everything and not just one track.

Here I used the volume button to create a fade on just one track, this sounded much better, but I still need to ask Lauren what she thinks about the overall sound for the begninng of the trailer that I have created.

Here I have just broken the fade down, so that it completely pauses the sound, this is just after the scene when Dr Hartman and his colleague are walking down the corridor.

I will be importing this into the trailer, as soon as Shema brings me in the trailer.

Research and Planning - Sound making

I have added in the flashback sound for the beginning of the trailer.I have added this sound in three times, as there are three flashbacks in the beginning of the trailer.I have cut them really short because all three flashback sounds need to be put into a second. I have matched them with the trailer and it fits in well. I will be importing this into the trailer once Shema brings in the trailer for me.

Here is the editing log, which Shema has tracked the changes that she has made to the trailer, and the entire process of the editing of the trailer. She has also evaluated stating whether she likes the changes that have been made, and why she edited the trailer in a certain way. 

Research and Planning - making sound

Here I have made an Ishowu, I wasn't aware that the mic was on, but because Shema still has the trailer at home, I had to have the trailer up on the computer next to me, until shema brings in the trailer. I have imported some sounds into iTunes then imported them into garageband then I have added the sound onto a track and out the times correctly matching the trailer, and I will be importing them into the trailer once shema brings it in for me.

Here is the prop which we made for out protagonists as a patient, which outlines her condition and also added her image so that the audience will know that the psychiatrist is linked with her and don't get confused at the beginning of the trailer.

Here is a clip that we have re- filmed, we have re - filmed this to make sure that the camera focuses on the protagonist picture and her illness so that the audience are aware of her illness, and reveal the protagonist as a patient.

Research and Planning - Sound

I have started on sound, and so far I have created a sound for the beginning. I think we will be using it throughout but I am not sure yet. I used the piano sound, I used a low note so the sound would be deeper and longer with the length of time it gives us.I am using Garageband to create the sound.

The trailer has changed, this time we have recorded voice overs so it is throughtout the trailer and not just in one place.one of the scenes have changed we had a close up shot showing the protagonist, now its been changed to a medium close up, so that your able to see how close the camera is to her face and its also building up a lot of suspense.

Here is the updated version of the trailer so far, there has been an added scene with spencer talking to the psychiatrist, an in the second one she is talking to herself, we have done a voice over here to play on with the main idea of mental disorder. The voice overs create the whole trailer to be more on the mental disorder side with the feeling of will people believe her or not.

This is what I have done so far on my Film Poster. I still need to darken the knife a little More and change the font on ' From the Directors of Insidious' and also get rid of that to something else, I also need to include the tag line.

Research and Planning - Different types of sound

Here are different types of sounds that I have researched.


Diegetic sound - This is when sound is visible on the screen, or when a source is implied to be present on the screen. A few examples of Diegetic sound would be

• characters voice
• music which is represented as coming from instruments in the story
• sound effects which re relevant to the narrative
• sounds which re made by objects in the story 

Non Diegetic sound - This is when sound is not visible on the screen or has not been implied to be present on the screen. Non Diegetic sound is usually represented as coming from outside the story not within. Examples of this would be things such as

• mood music
• sound effects
• The narrators commentary 

Research and Planning - Trailer So Far (4)

The trailer has been updated, Shema has edited the psychiatrist scene by applying 'sci fi' effect. This gave the scene a blue tone to it, she edited the clip more to remove some of the blur colour it had to it, also she edited the scene where the two characters are standing outside of the house to make the speech continue onto the next scene, to show the response of the other character. She has also removed some of the running scenes, as there had seemed to be too much of them. Also she  rearranged the scene where the antagonist is strangling the protagonist, and placed it where the running scenes where. To the montage at the end she has also added a shot where it shows a knife and it's shadow. we also all wanted to change the colour of the text towards the end to red. However iMovie did not let Shema do this.

We also got Shema to edit the trailer in Black and white, as this reflect the Horror genre and also more sinister. However we have decided to keep it in colour as it looks a lot better.

Shema has finished editing the trailer, however, it is not fully finished as we still think changes can be made to make it more better. Shema needs to change the psychiatrist scenes and make the lighting different, to distinguish the past from the present. Also Shema needs to remove the running scenes towards the end as there are too many.

Here is my poster so far, I need to add an image inside the knife and change the colour and opacity of it. I am not able to do this at home and need to do it when we are back at college. also the image looks squashes as I used power point to crop the image.

We have decided on a tagline for the Disorder Movie trailer. The tagline that we have all agreed on is             ' who will believe her?'

Research and Planning - Blood Sign

Here is a sign which shema has made, we looked at other horror trailers and she re-created this but on paper as we will not be able to paint the walls at khadijahs house ( where we will be filming next) She used her fingers to create the blood like effect then water to make the paint drip to look like blood.
