Here are different types of sounds that I have researched.
Diegetic sound - This is when sound is visible on the screen, or when a source is implied to be present on the screen. A few examples of Diegetic sound would be
- characters voice
- music which is represented as coming from instruments in the story
- sound effects which re relevant to the narrative
- sounds which re made by objects in the story
Non Diegetic sound - This is when sound is not visible on the screen or has not been implied to be present on the screen. Non Diegetic sound is usually represented as coming from outside the story not within. Examples of this would be things such as
- mood music
- sound effects
- The narrators commentary
