Research and Planning - Different types of sound

Sound is a very important thing, when making a trailer/film. It brings the whole thing together and also helps build the tension of the trailer and creates an effect on the audience. A few sounds that are almost always used in trailer and films are the following:

Score: Music/sound which is created especially for the film itself.

Dialogue: sound which is made through two or more characters talking with each other.

Voice over: This is something that is mainly used in horror trailer, and is something we might be using in our trailer also, this is giving information about the trailer without being present on the screen or telling us the story.

Here are some ideas that we have thought about for our distribution name, out off all the names I think we like Dark arts as it stands out more to all of us and relates more to the theme of our trailer.

Research and Planning - Actor Profile (Dr George Hartman)

Name: Steven Midgley 

We have casted Steven Midgley to pay Dr George Hartman. We did not hold any auditions for this part as he is not saying anything and he is the murderer and we don't want to reveal this in the trailer. We thought he is perfect for the role as he is rather old and his look describes our character and is stereotypical for the doctor.

Here are some taglines that we have come up with 

1. The past will follow you - I think this links very well with our film plot as the protagonist is under threat by her psychiatrist, who knew her mother before she was born and left her after she was expecting with her, so the use of ' past' in this will work well with our plot.

2. He's watching YOU - This is also another great tagline as this is exactly what goes on in the film.

3. Its all inside your head... Or is it? - This is another one which I think it good, this one is a question which makes you want to know if its true or not and make the readers more curious to find out the truth.

Research and Planning - What I have done today

Today I have researched on shots that have been used on posters and magazines I have also looked at the layout of them and also taglines, as me and the rest of the group have been thinking about a few taglines, I thought looking some up will be able to give me more ideas on some taglines.

Research and planning - Horror film poster shots

I have been researching Film posters and I have noticed they show us a shot of the place were the film takes place or either the protagonist. In the above image of ' The cabin ' they have the place it will take place and then ' The Conjuring ' is a two shot of the protagonist and then we have the ' scream ' poster which is a close up of the protagonist. For my film poster I think I will be having a Medium shot of the protagonist.

Here are some shots that have been used for the magazine image,. The shots that have been used are, long shots, medium shots a two shot, close up shot medium, close ups.However for my magazine I think I will be doing a Medium close up shot or a medium shot like the ones above.

Research and planning - Test shots

Here are some test shots that we have taken, we have used iMovie to edit them into a video and added sound so all of us get to take a part in producing this video. We have gone outside and taken images of trees,bushes and plants so that we can capture the lighting and also we will be having trees in our trailer. we have also taken images of a corridor as this relates to the trailer as in the psychiatrist building and also the lighting is high key and also the building front and sofas and tables this all relates to the office of the antagonist in our trailer.

Here is the location recce, this gives us more information on the location that we have chosen and allows us to understand it more and keep a look out for the hazards that are possible , like the weather. we have also looked at other things like shooting and lighting.

This is a script that we have created for our film , Disorder. Most of the speech is at the beginning of the  trailer, because its more calm and then it gets more intense towards the end of the trailer were there will be a lot of screaming.

Today we have had a group meeting about what we will be naming our characters, we have decided to call the Antagonist Dr George Hartman and the Protagonist will be called Spencer and her mother is called Angela and the main protagonists friend will be called Alex.
