Research and Planning - film magazine anlysis
Here is a film magazine, from Empire. This film magazine always has the masthead in the colour 'red' as it stands out and draws attention to the audience. The Layout of this magazine is like any other magazine but they have stuck to a theme with just three colours, aside from the masthead colour, the colour theme of this magazine is Pinkish- purple, white and green. They have linked the colours with the Model on the cover, they have thought about his outfit choice and the details of the font to create this image across the magazine.
The headline at the top of the magazine, is in the colour white and really stands out because the font is bold an different from the other font layouts, also in the middle of the text they have put the symbol, relating to the film the logo which will be noticed by the existing audience. White is also used on the the tagline and under the tagline for the quote, this font on the tagline is changed as has the font for the quote, this is because it makes it suit the models personality more and brings more of the film to the magazine to make the audience feel more interacted with the film as well as the interview with the character.
The green colour used on the magazine really puts together the magazine, as the colour green is used for a clothing item on the 'joker' and also its brighter than all the other colours on the magazine and highlights the word 'joker' to the audience, and draws more attention to the magazine. Also green is used in a bubble to highlight the text inside the bubble. Also the colour green is highlighting the text which says ' And world- first looks at' which makes the audience want to read this magazine. The use of the colour purple is used very little, but has an impact on the magazine, as it brings it all together. the colour is used on part of the models clothing choice and also the bright purple used across the page draws attention to the joker and also the white text which highlights the text. The purple that is used for 'meet the' is in a unusual font on the page but brings the whole thing together. The layout of the font, is simple and easy to understand the cover lines are simple and stand out to the audience. The positioning of the model is a full length shot and you can clearly see his expressions on his face which show his feelings which relate to the 'joker'.
The target audience for this magazine is anyone from the ages of 12-24 , the reason being is because lots of children and teenagers like 'batman' and superhero films and they are the ones more likely to go to the cinema to watch the film. Also the main target audience would be more men/boys than women/girls, because its a action film which is more associated with boys/men.
